Muscovy duck killed by arrows in Miramar

Miramar - Detectives are investigating the killing of a Muscovy duck shot with two 2-foot arrows, police spokesman Sgt. Jose Sanchez said Tuesday.
The duck was shot sometime Monday and found near a lake in the 4900 block of Southwest 134th Avenue, according to a police report. Residents called police about 6:20 p.m. The officer who responded said the duck was alive then.
No one answered calls Tuesday to a phone numbers listed for the Miramar address.
The Wildlife Care Center's animal pick-up service does not operate after-hours, but a staff member for the Fort Lauderdale facility picked up the wounded duck in Miramar on Tuesday morning, center spokeswoman Dr. Antonia Gardner said. The arrows were still in the 6-pound animal. It died on the way to the center.
